Jordan Kravitz returned to Avenues in the fall of 2018 as an English teacher in the Upper Division. Previously Jordan both consulted with school leadership on middle and upper grades English curricula and taught middle and high school English while directing the Avenues Writing Center. He currently serves as a staff developer with the Reading and Writing Project at Teachers College, assisting teachers of middle school English to enhance their instruction of reading and writing.
Jordan has a wealth of experience teaching composition, creative writing, literature and the humanities, most recently at Stuyvesant High School in New York, and previously at North Shore Country Day Middle School in Illinois. He was also an editorial assistant intern with Little, Brown & Co. Publishing, where he read and reviewed submitted manuscripts.
Jordan received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Amherst College and went on to complete coursework in a P.h.D.-track M.A. program at the University of Chicago. He obtained a Master of Arts in English education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
In his spare time, Jordan enjoys reading and writing and loafing with his Norfolk terrier, Wicket.
