Gideon Rothwell

Gideon Rothwell joined Avenues in the fall of 2018 as an immersion assistant in the Early Learning Center. Gideon previously served as a substitute assistant teacher through School Professionals, where he carried out teaching duties in New York City private and charter schools grades for pre-K through 8. He was also an ESL Instructor through CELCUM in Mexico, where he designed lesson plans and taught summer English classes to young learners from Mexico and Korea. Additionally, he served as an English tutor to students at Washington English Center and as a Spanish tutor to high school students in Maryland.

Gideon received a Bachelor of Arts in foreign languages and literatures (Spanish and German) from Lewis and Clark College and a Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) from the University of Cambridge, Teaching House.

In his spare time, Gideon enjoys challenging his creativity by drawing, writing and playing music. In addition, he is an avid runner and enjoys working on his bicycle, which he regularly rides to work, sometimes even in the rain!
