Ann Clements

This fall, Ann Miller returns to Avenues as head teacher in an English speaking section of 1st grade. Ann first joined Avenues in as an intern in the Avenues Interim Masters Program, and has been a 1st grade associate teacher for the past three years.

Prior to moving to New York, Ann lived in Jacksonville, Florida, where she completed City Year, an AmeriCorps program that aims to bridge the educational gap in high-poverty communities. As a corps member, she provided one-on-one academic support to students in grade 7, encouraged positive behavior and organized community outreach events. She also has extensive experience working in marketing and public relations at large corporations, including SMG (Jacksonville, FL), Jacksonville Jaguars (Jacksonville, FL) and PMK BNC (New York, NY).

Ann received a B.A. in English, with a minor in managerial studies, from Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN) and completed coursework in marketing at the London School of Economics (London, UK).

Outside of work Ann likes to read, needlepoint, cook and play tennis. “Whenever I get the opportunity,” she says, “I love to travel.”
