Allison (Ali) Snell returns to Avenues this fall as an associate division head in the Upper Division and also as a learning specialist with the SST. She joined the Avenues faculty last year as a learning specialist in the Upper Division.
Before coming to Avenues, Ali worked as a literacy coach for the NYC Department of Education. In this role, she led literacy learning for teachers and school leaders through onsite coaching and professional learning opportunities. Earlier, Ali was the founding assistant principal at PS/MS 8 in Brooklyn, where she oversaw curriculum development and implementation, managed day-to-day operations of the school and supervised and supported classroom teachers and paraprofessionals. Before taking on this role, Ali was a classroom teacher in middle schools for 12 years. She also worked as an adjunct instructor for the leadership program at Bank Street College of Education.
Ali holds a Bachelor of Arts from Haverford College, a Master of Arts in learning dis/abilities from Teachers College at Columbia University, and a Master of Education in leadership for educational change from Bank Street College of Education.
Ali enjoys spending time with her husband and three young children – ages 2, 3, and 6. She loves yoga, reading and biking. In fact, she bikes to Avenues from the north shore of Staten Island every day!
