Alicia Correa Mañas returns to Avenues this year as an associate teacher in 1st grade. She joined Avenues last year as an intern in the Avenues Interim Mastery program (A.I.M.) in the Lower Division. Before coming to Avenues, Alicia taught Spanish to students ages 3 to 9 years old at Kids&Us, developing unique lesson plans to help students learn English and leading a hands-on, interactive and experiential learning classroom. Alicia has also worked as a freelance tutor for students ages 8 to 25 in a variety of subjects, including Spanish, English and music.

Alicia holds a B.A. in English and Catalan language and an M.A. in teaching with a focus in language from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in Spain. She recently earned her teaching certification in Spanish as a Second Language at Instituto Cervantes.

Alicia speaks five languages (Spanish, Catalan, English, German and Italian) and is passionate about music, as she’s played violin in an orchestra and sang in a choir for several years. During those years she used to write scripts, co-direct and act in an amateur drama company as well. She is also certified as a yoga instructor from City College of San Francisco.
