    "We took a 6th grade project from New York (building a weather station), and the 6th grade students in Uganda showed us they could do it, too—no problem. That’s when I thought, heck, this might really work,” says Julia Higdon, research scientist at Avenues: The World School. On October 2, a group of 13 visited the Dodge Poetry Festival, a biennial four-day celebration of the art form in Newark, NJ. A smaller group of students attended the festival two years ago, but this year's group had more than doubled in size, proof of Avenues students' ever-growing interest in the written and spoken word.  More...

Rob Davis joined Avenues in the fall of 2014 as an associate teacher in one of the English sections of pre-kindergarten (in the immersion classes, nursery through grade four, children spend alternate days in a class conducted in English and in a class conducted in either Spanish or Mandarin Chinese).
